Tour Overview The Colombian Amazon has ecosystems of humid tropical vegetation, flooding and hard soil forests, swamps, and also fluvial systems that characterize its jungle. It offers around 150 species of mammals, in which the pink dolphins and some endangered species such as jaguars, manatees and otters stand out; among the primates we find the little titi monkey, the smallest in the world. Also there are more than 500 bird species from which the most known are macaws, toucans, parrots and endemic species, such as the Piuri.   Among the reptiles you can easily see the biggest sweet water turtle, morrocoy jabuti, and the black cayman. The fishes constitute a much diversified group in which we can find piranhas and pirarucus among others. Trees often measure between 100 and 130 feet tall. Species such as red and white cedar, mahogany, ceiba, and uvo are the tallest and most impressive trees of all. Features of this trip: Fully guided tour, not a group tour. ITINERARY   Day 1: Flight to Leticia, capital of the colombian department of the Amazon. City tour through Leticia.   Includes:  Decalodge Hotel in Leticia, all meals, airline ticket: Bogota – Leticia, Leticia City Tour and guide DAY 2: The Canopy Tour. Simply amazing, 140 feet tall. The spot is great to enjoy the other jungle, the one thats only perceived from high. Unsuspected birds and colorfull animal and plants.   Includes:  Decalodge Hotel in Leticia, Canopy Tour and guide, all meals and guide. DAY 3: Boat trip to Amacayacu National Park. The realm of the pink dolphin: Lake Tarapoto, a magical lake where gray and pink dolphins mostly live. Includes:  Amacayacu accommodation, boat transportation, all meals and guide   Day 4: The Amacayacu National Park. Walk into the native community of San Martin through the path of the healing plants and through the realm of the “Big Ceiba” (One of the biggest trees in the Colombian Amazon). Packing List Please plan your gear ahead of time. Below is our recommended list when packing for our Amazon Expedition. Temperatures are warm year-round. The only time you might need a rain jacket is between October and November. Beachwear and camping clothes are the rule Personal Gear 2 Swimsuits or shorts Shoes that can get wet.
