We have great experience in arranging bird watching special trips for groups of more than 4 guests.

These will include a certified guide (Ornithologist), and visit to special sites in wich we will have the possibility to see endemic birds.

We have a strong relationship with the Colombian Ornithologist Society and we have acces to birding guides of the different places we visit

WHERE?

Destinations to enjoy Birding Tours: Cartagena, Bogotá, Amazon, Leticia and Tobia.

The Amazon Basin is place of birds. Among others one can easily watch: toucan, hyancinth macaws, scarlet macaws, hoatzins, parrots, amazons kingfisher, white throated, wild ducks, herons, fiery billed aracari, yellow-paped amazon parrot, falcons and many others more.

• Toucans are heard all the time in the Amazon, they are rarely seen because they stay mostly high in the canopy.
  The Macaw is the largest bird from tropical regions. An interesting fact about the macaw is that when one macaw finds a mate, it stays with that mate until one of them dies. Although the macaw is known to mimic human speech, in the wild they have loud ear-piercing voices. These birds are also believed to communicate very well within their species.
• Hoatzin is the only specie of its own family Opisthocomidae. They are weak flyers and feed mostly on leaves of various plants but also on fruits and flowers in limited extent. The young ones have claws on their wings which enables them to climb up branches.

 

The Rosario Islands Natural Park is great for bird wtching as many make their home here including sprey, frigate, pelicans, herons, fisher eagles, among many others. While at our expeditions at certain times of the year, The Park plays host to a multitud of migrating birds.

Colombia is the world largest producer of birds.
